The first AISL Harrow Cup – Youth Golf League, a joint-school initiative spearheaded by AISL Harrow Schools and co-hosted by AISL Harrow Nanning, took place from 29 April to 1 May 2023. The event gathered Headmasters and over 60 young golfers from our schools in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Haikou, Chongqing and Nanning for an unforgettable summer sports experience.
Sports and sportsmanship play a prominent role in the holistic Harrow-branded education. The three-day event in the ‘Green City’ of Nanning set the stage for students to showcase their golfing skills, exchange ideas with their fellow players and receive personalised guidance from professional coaches.
The event began with a welcome dinner for participants to unwind from travel with student performances and sharing from Lander Lee, winner of several international youth golf tournaments, and a graduate of AISL Harrow Shenzhen.
The Sports Carnival on the next day offered an excellent opportunity for participants to warm up and get to know each other through various fun-filled activities, from skated paddleboards to rugby, guided by world-class coaches of our AISL Outdoor Summer Camps.
The trip reached a climax on day three with the Youth Golf League at the beautiful Jiahecheng Golf Course. Not only did our young golfers swing their clubs confidently aiming for championship, our ‘Friends of Harrow’ – the accompanying parents – also enjoyed themselves in their own game.
After a rigorous six-hour competition, the following winners were announced.
Medals and certificates were great takeaways from the competition, but more important was the experience of immersing in Harrow’s core values – Courage, Honor, Humility and Fellowship – through collaborating and competing with fellow students in the AISL Harrow family.
