Rules of Racing
1. The Regatta will follow the latest international rowing racing rules and the regulations of this event.
2. In total of 3 lanes will be available for the 1000m races. Heats and finals will be held if there are more than 3 entries per race; the top 3 from heats will advance to finals. Teams will proceed to the final directly if there are not more than 3 entries.
Only 1 lane will be available for the 2600m races. Boats will start their race in sequence every minute based on 1000m race results. The final participation list will be set based on the number of boats registered and the allocation of equipment, with reference to the participant guide.
3. If finals cannot be held due to adverse weather conditions (e.g., heavy rain, thunderstorms, strong winds), final rankings will be determined based on the heat results. The team with the shorter race time will be ranked higher; in the case of a tie, the ranks will be shared.
4. Boats and equipment will be provided by the organising committee (a deposit is required), and the allocation plan will be announced at the pre-competition officials and team leaders meeting. Due to limited provision, teams will be sharing boats during the competition.
The allocation of boats will be coordinated by the organising committee, and teams are not allowed to unilaterally change or occupy the boats and equipment. Any violations will result in the disqualification of the offending team.
5. The organising committee encourages teams to bring their own boats. Any teams bringing their own boats must transport theirs to Hengqin Rowing Park by 28 November 2024 to facilitate the organising committee in arranging the boat area and reallocating boats during the competition.
Please click on the button below to view the full rules of racing.
4. The coxswain is required to undergo a weigh-in procedure at the time of check-in. The coxswain’s weight must not be less than 50 kilograms. Failure to meet this minimum weight requirement will necessitate the addition of ballast to the boat.
5. The organisers will provide all boats, and participants can bring their oars. Boat assignments will be determined by a pre-race draw.
6. All participants must wear their team’s uniform attire.
7. The organisers reserve the right to suspend the event in case of inclement weather, such as heavy rain, thunderstorms, or strong winds.
8. Participants must bring and present the event pass issued by the organisers to the registration desk. Otherwise, they will not be allowed to compete, which may jeopardize their eligibility for future events.
9. In case of rule violations like collisions, participants can lodge objections with the judges after the race, and the judges will decide on the results.
10. If weather conditions are favorable, participants will race without life jackets. If conditions are poor, participants must wear life jackets, and the boats will be equipped with safety floats.
11. Participants from each entity may register for up to 3 races, for example, for university championship, a men’s team can register 1000m coxed sweep (8+), 1000m coxed scull (4X+) and 2000m coxed sweep (8+).
12. The organiser reserves the right to charge the accommodation, meals and transportation fee in the event if the applicants withdraw the race with no acceptable reasons.
13. The organisers reserve the final decision-making authority for any disputes.
